Fishing at the Lido
Fishing is permitted at Ruislip Lido from 16 June to 14 March each year. All anglers must hold a valid Environment Agency rod licence, which you can purchase online from GOV.UK. Licences are checked regularly — if you can’t produce a valid licence, you won’t be able to fish.
Fishing is only allowed from the designated wooden fishing platforms around the lake. These are clearly marked and accessible from the main paths.
You must not fish from:
- The main beach
- The dog beach outside The Water’s Edge pub
- The boathouse
- The bird feeding platform
- The area between the pub and the boathouse (this is a wildlife area)
What you can catch
The lake holds large shoals of bream and perch, around 20 carp, and average-sized pike. Pike fishing is not permitted during the summer — the pike season opens on 1 October each year.
Rules to be aware of
BBQs and fires are not permitted on the banks. No boats may be used on the lake. For the full rules and regulations, check the notice board on the boathouse before you start fishing.
